Lavender Marriage

Originally titled Pernikahan Lavender, this Indonesian film is literally named after the phenomenon it depicts. The story follows Nona (Lutesha), a woman in an abusive marriage, who meets Aris (Maxime Bouttier), a famous actor trapped in a lavender marriage—a union maintained for public image while concealing his true identity.

The film explicitly explores how sham marriages function in Indonesian society, where social pressure and public expectations force individuals to maintain appearances at the cost of their authentic selves. Premiered at the Jakarta World Cinema 2025 festival.
